Case Story - Seeing Red

I was so upset when our Persian rug was destroyed after a houseguest clumsily spilled red wine all over it

It was a family heirloom and had a lot of sentimental value to me; I knew it just couldn’t be replaced and I didn’t want to have to get a new one either. I tried absolutely everything to get the ugly stain out but with little success, the over-the-counter products were practically ineffective. Red wine is unfortunately one of those prolific hard-to-remove stains so I just thought that was that and in the end, I had resigned myself to going out and buying another rug altogether. I couldn’t believe the value for money and I thought that for that price, there’d be absolutely no way they’d be able to restore it to new, red wine free! So, I went out feeling a little apprehensive while they carried out their work and didn’t expect big results.

When I got home, I was completely taken aback with the difference in what I was seeing. The soaked dark red wine stain had completely vanished and with it, other grubby stains that had accumulated over the years had gone too. It was like magic! It gleamed like new despite the fact it was over 100 years old and smelled the best. The helpful team advised me on how to maintain my rug with useful information and specific products that are kind to antique carpets and rugs. I couldn’t believe the change and instantly wanted to show it off to everybody so I arranged a little dinner party in the house but, this time, no red wine!
